Your Personal Goal Builder
“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.”- Napoleon Hill
Each time I have met with someone, and I ask them what they want for themselves, I get the very same answer, "I don't want ...fill in the blank..". Of course, there is never just one thing that each person doesn't want. The list goes on and on. The way the mind works, is that it's very instructional. However, your subconscious mind does not recognize certain words. "DON'T" is a very big word that is not recognizable to your personal programming when giving yourself a personal command. Many of us have been programmed, or have unknowingly been programming ourselves using negative wording. Many of us have most of the things we don't want simply because we have been giving ourselves suggestions so that the subconscious mind does not recognize the word don't. Basically, we all know what we don't want, but how often do you tell yourself what it is you do want?
One example: "I don't want to be overweight." You may not realize this, but, your mind will automatically process pictures into your imagination of your being, and feeling, overweight. If your goal is to lose weight, this will do nothing for your goals. But, what if I told you that by wording this differently, you can begin reprogramming yourself to positively change behaviors surrounding being overweight.
You can change this in three simple steps:
1. Make it a habit to tell yourself what you DO want. "I want to feel healthy, fit, and more energetic." Am I honestly suggesting that simple word changes can change whatever you want for the better? Absolutely!
2. Now leave your mind open for just a moment, and ask yourself one simple question... "What will it take to feel healthy, fit, and more energetic?" By doing this, you are giving yourself permission to open yourself up for possibilities, and automatic problem solving.
3. Now, the third step is to use your most powerful tool... your imagination. Close your eyes and Imagine yourself as healthy, fit, and more energetic. How does it feel to have more energy? How are you reaching this goal? What activities give you joy in reaching this goal? How do you feel mentally, physically, emotionally now that you have reached your goals?
You can plan your life! Isn't that something? There are always challenges to face, but the beauty is that you have many choices in how to handle anything that comes your way. You can either let it consume you, or you can let it go, grow from it, and progress forward.
Once you have adopted this way of thinking, moving through your goals become easier, and most effective because it's how you have retrained yourself to think forward. Instead of standing still, still wishing for what you don't want, you are progressively living the life you do want for yourself.
